Fasting

Ray is not allowed to eat or drink anything since 2.00 am. I've been told that Ray body's reflexes will temporarily stopped when the anaesthetic is used. There's a risk of bringing up food into his throat or vomiting, that could affect breathing and get into lungs , then causing damage to the lungs.
