Hello and good morning all! I've been away for a few days carving a job in the Bronx, NYC.
There are numerous trees in the Woodlawn Cemetery that need to come down because they are either storm damaged or there's risk to structures.
This would be my 5th stump carved in this cemetery.
I'll share the beginning and the end with a few cuts in between.
The stump was a 3ft diameter white oak.
Day one was the block out stage..finding form.
Had a little mishap, a cut-off fell and broke a plank. Luckily I wasn't standing on it.
End of day one, found the form.
Day 2 and I thinned him out along with filling where the grain separated.
Day 3 was finish work..and an easy one at that since they dint want him painted.
Slight burn with a torch, flapsand and finished off with some shadow using the airbrush.
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I saw, if so feel free to upvote and reblog. I love what I do and I'm happy to share here on Peakd. Thank you all for looking and have an excellent day.
Jon
