Hello all, today I'll share a project, or a couple projects rather, that were an order that needed to be personally delivered from NY to Colorado.
This one was 7ft tall with 3 barn owls. Below I'll share a few progress pictures from start to finish.
The log was an odd shape, perfect for finding the motion of the birds in flight.
Here it is after just a few cuts.
Added a wing to the middle bird here.
Then the owl on the bottom was found, wings attached.
Saw work and details finish here.
Some burning for the rough edges.
Some shadowing with the airbrush to finish off.
Next was this 7ft moose skull
Roughed out before the antlers..saw only
Antlers attached and details finished
Tiny bit of shadow
Then a few coats of varnish to finish off.
Customer called me a few days before our departure needing a wood spirit also.
It was a quick carve
Little bit of burning, sanding and paint to finish off. Literally only took an hour or so.
Here's a muglife gif for ya.
So I had to deliver these pieces to Colorado from my shop in NY because they were both too big and too fragile to ship safely. My F150 wasn't going to make it as it was in rough shape.
I bought a newer used Toyota Tundra for the trip.
After 28-30 hours, I arrived in Colorado, not too bad of a drive. I had my brother with me so we could alternate.
My customer's home was at the top of the mountains with some very nice views.
When we got there we immediately placed the sculptures where they had to go
This customer also had ordered before.
Heres a few more from me in his collection and scattered about on his property.
My customer was very kind and offered for us to sleep there so we didn't have to find a hotel. A VIP in my book
The next day we went home, would've stayed longer but I didn't have the family with me.
Well that was my trip. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I saw. If so feel free to reblog.
Thank you and have a great day
