Black beetle or bombardier beetle

This is the first time I have seen it myself, even though it has been on the surface of the earth for a long time, this beetle is one of the beetles that rarely appears by itself, this is because it is active at night while in the middle of the day this beetle is rarely seen, generally will be present at night, or rather in the evening before sunset, then at that time just appeared.

This one beetle has a series of names embedded for it in either verbal or non-verbal language, but the language varies, it all depends on different regions.

In general, this beetle is one of the ground beetles or referred to as Carabidae in the genus Brachinini, Paussini, Ozaenini, or Metriini. While he belongs to a species of more than 500 species). Why people in Indonesia call it bombardir is because their defense mechanism can imagine the gas in its stomach, and it will do when it experiences something like, when disturbed, they squirt hot chemical liquid from the end of their stomach, with a popping sound. This characteristic often occurs when it is suspected that it can interfere with the safety of the body either from other creatures or humans themselves who try to ensnare it in any way.

This one beetle looks weak because of its weak style, or looks like a weak prey for many predators, but it is one of its tricks in trapping its prey, when the predators want to hunt it it is a mistake for other beetles, because every the threat that comes to this beetle, can trigger a counterattack in the form of a stomach bomb in the form of poison gas that can make weak opponents move.

There are several types of beetles on this one (bombardment), in general there are 3 types, these can be distinguished from their body color even though they are physically the same. Some of these types are:

1. Doff black
2. Yellow with gold stripes
3. Doff black mixed with gold stripes

However, what is often seen with gold stripes while matte black and black with gold stripes is very rare.

When I personally get this black bombardir beetle, I can say this is fortunate because it is very rarely seen even though it is in the herd.
This "Bombardir"beetle has a liquid produced by the reaction between two chemical compounds, hydroquinone and hydrogen peroxide. This toxic substance is stored in a separate bag in the beetle's stomach and the compactness needed in the third chamber with catalytic enzymes. So when the predator will order the poison gas to be sprayed at the opponent and in the end the predator will be weak and sometimes even die.
