Olympic Logo Used by Rio Cocaine Dealers in Party District

Rio de Janeiro’s drug dealers are seizing the Olympic spirit as tourists start arriving ahead of the games that begin next week.

A recent drug bust in the Lapa bar district turned up 93 packets of cocaine, 28 baggies of crack and some ammunition for a 0.40 caliber gun. Photos posted on the local police’s Facebook page show a packet that says “Rio 2016” and features the Olympic rings. It also warns: “Not for use near children.”

Another photo features a packet saying “Cocaina,” the Portuguese word for the drug, in a design the emulates a Coke logo. Coca-Cola Co. is an official sponsor of the games. The Lapa neighborhood is known for its lively samba clubs and bohemian culture.
