🎇 Internet's Turn Off Switch? We Must Cut Off the Entire Internet; said Donald J. Trump

A blast hit the Parsons Green station of the London underground train. Individuals have allegedly suffered burns after white containers detonated inside the train at the station. Reacting to the incident Donald Trump recommend the internet to be cut off to fight terrorism.

On his favorite social media Twitter he said that "Internet must cut off & use it better". It raises a Big Question to me, Would the internet could possibly cut off? I research on how it could be possible or how it could not be possible.

What provokes Donald Trump to say this?

On September 15, 2017, 8:20 am in London in the United Kingdom, a bomb went off in a subway tube that injured 29 people possibly as many have been sent to the hospital. However, it appears that none of their injuries are life-threatening. Meanwhile, this incident is being ruled as terrorism at the moment and therefore Donald Trump immediately took to Twitter following this attack to basically do what Donald Trump does best and that is overreacting. Because Donald Trump's reaction to this bombing in London was to say that we, everybody, and the world needs to close-off the internet so nobody can use the Internet so terrorists can stop using that as a recruiting tool. Now it might be a bit of a shock for people to learn this but this is actually not the first time that Donald Trump is actually called for the internet to be shut down. In response to terrorist attacks after that, he first made this comment several months ago, he then backed up and said well let's just shut down the terrorist websites as if that's something that other people haven't thought of yet. But now in the wake of this London bombing he's come out and said you know what screw it we've got to get rid of the Internet.

Donald Trump on his final Presidential debate talking about closing the Internet

This happened on Donald Trump's favorite medium Twitter which is an internet-based social media platform and of course he didn't see the irony in that. Trump said he was going to talk to Bill Gates about possibly shutting down the Internet as if somehow Bill Gates has a massive switch in his house that just turns the Internet on and off or that he really has any sway over whether or not the internet actually works. He is absolutely delusional if he thinks that cutting off the internet is going to stop any form of terrorism. Terrorism has existed long before the internet and it will continue to exist if the Internet is gone and it's going to do even worse things on the internet if you continue to cut back on the departments in your own government that are in charge of monitoring those kinds of things.

Could Donald Trump possible cut-off the Internet?

The media spun into a firestorm of outrage declaring Trump's idea completely implausible. And they're not wrong, the truth is America doesn't control the Internet in other places of the world and most American sites already censor or shut down terrorist activity anyways. So in order to prevent Isis from using the Internet, we would have to march into Syria or Iraq and physically tear the routers off of their walls or well what Trump said "I'm gonna bomb the shit out of him". So the only real option a hypothetical president Trump would have of turning off the internet would be in America and you know what he could if he wanted to it would be huge.

In 2006, the Department of Homeland Security created SOP 303 standard operating procedure. 303 gives the federal government the authority to turn off the internet in the case of a national emergency this has been deemed by many as the internet kill switch. Many are concerned about the unchecked power this gives the government in controlling our access to the Internet it also completely infringes on our First Amendment rights all freedom of speech rate of speech. In 2012, the Electronic Privacy Information Center submitted a Freedom of Information Act request asking the Department of Homeland Security to fully disclose the text of SOP 303 to this day they are still fighting for the disclosure in the Supreme Court the internet has only been shut off by the government once since the SOP was drafted in 2006.

In 2011, a homeless man was killed by a Bay Area Rapid Transit officer for wielding a knife the murder sparked numerous protests in BART stations. A month later, officials turned off cellular networks within Bart's platforms for three hours to deter any more disruptive activity protesters called foul and even alluded to the Arab Spring protests in Egypt with the hashtag #muBARTek. Trump's words might seem ridiculous but they're not that far-fetched.
