The paradise papers leak reveals secrets of the world's elite's hidden wealth. The Guardian reports that the details come from a leak of 13.4m files that expose the global environments in which tax abuses can thrive- as well as the complex and seemingly artificial ways the wealthiest corporations can legally protect their wealth. It is reported that most of the documents (6.8m) relate to a law firm and corporate services provider that operated together in 10 jurisdictions under the name Appleby.

The same sex marriage survey is almost at an end.


The same sex marriage postal survey is almost at an end and Australians have one last chance to mail their marriage equality form before the postal survey closes on Tuesday. Any forms received after 6pm Tuesday will not be counted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The results of the nonbinding survey will be released on Wednesday 15 November around 10am (AEST). It is reported that most opinion polls show the 'yes' vote winning with around 60%, but an academic study of Twitter opinions refutes that.

The Prime Minister it is reported, had 'lied' because he had previously suggested he supported the proposal back in 2015 and encouraged him on the issue, Pearson was reported as saying. The Uluru statement was drafted after a summit of more than 300 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community leaders and legal experts in May but the government rejected it's recommendations saying a referendum proposing embedding an Indigenous voice into Parliament in the constitution was “too ambitious” and would not get majority support.

Breaking: MPs to be forced to declare citizenship status.


Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is trying to end the uncertainty over the citizenship of politicians reports the ABC. Prime Minister Turnbull has announced a plan to force MPs and senators to lodge a declaration when they are elected that they are not a citizen of any country other than Australia. The new system to declare citizenship status would be overseen by the parliamentary office that keeps track of politicians financial interests. The announcement comes days after Liberal senator Stephen Parry joined the growing ranks of federal politicians whose dual citizenship has rendered them ineligible to serve the 45th parliament, according to section 44 of the constitution. Malcolm Turnbull stressed that the changes were not a citizenship audit.
