Hi HIVE’s friends! I hope you had an excellent Monday of Needle Work. Today I want to show you that it’s not all bed of roses when you're learning to sew. Despite I thought my patience was infinite, today I showed myself that’s not true (anyway I took it easy, I only rested a little and return with more desire).
¡Hola amigos de HIVE! Espero que hayan tenido un excelente lunes de trabajos de aguja. Hoy quiero mostrarles que no todo es color de rosas mientras aprendes a coser. A pesar de que creía que mi paciencia era infinita, hoy me demostré a mi misma todo lo contrario (igual lo tomo con humor, solo necesito descansar para volver a intentarlo con más ganas).

This time I tried to sew my first lingerie clothe with my machine, using lace fabric. I didn’t like the color of the fabric, but I wanted to practice. Maybe in awhile I will be able to buy another one in a different colour, like black or red. I started this project when I didn’t have a sewing machine: I drew the patterns, cut the fabric and I linked it with a stapler! I was anxious to see how it would look like. I liked the result.
Esta vez intenté coser con la máquina mi primera ropa interior usando una tela de encaje. El color no me gustaba demasiado pero quería practicar y en caso de que me saliera bien, me ocuparía en conseguir otra tela en algún color más lindo, como negro o rojo. La cuestión es que este proyecto lo empecé cuando no tenía máquina de coser: dibujé los moldes, corté las piezas y ¡las uní con una engrampadora! Estaba ansiosa por ver como quedaba. El resultado me había gustado.
So today, with the sewing machine in my power, I decided to continue the sew of this clothe. The first 20 minutes I removed one by one all the staplers’ hooks and later I sew the pieces with a straight seam. That was fine because it was easy.
Entonces hoy, con la máquina de coser en mi poder, decidí retomar el armado de esta pieza. Primero dediqué como 20 minutos en sacar uno por uno todos los ganchos que le había puesto y luego cosí las partes con puntada recta: eso estuvo bastante bien porque fue fácil.
Then, came the moment of finish the edges of the pieces. In order to do that, a “broken elastic” got to be sewed. This is an elastic without the middle thread, so it can be fold in half. This way, the fabric must be placed inside the elastic and sew it with a zig-zag seam. The fact is that I saw a lot of internet videos where that seemed so easy to do… But I was fooled! My technique was a real mess. For a few moments I did it well, but next the elastic was open, the fabric came off, the zig-zag was bent… A real nightmare!
Luego, llegó el momento de elastizar los bordes. Para que los bordes de la pieza queden prolijos debe colocarse un “elástico quebrado”, que es aquel al que le falta un hilo en el medio entonces puede doblarse a la mitad. De este modo, la tela debe colocarse dentro del elástico y coser con puntada zigzag. La realidad es que vi miles de videos en internet en donde lo hacían parecer tan sencillo... ¡Me engañaron! jajajajaaja. Mi técnica fue totalmente desastrosa. Por partes me salía bien, pero luego el elástico se abría, la tela se salía, el zigzag se iba para cualquier lado… Una verdadera pesadilla.
The worst part is that I couldn’t finish it. It was so sloppy that it seemed to me a waste of time and materials… so I abandoned it. I hate to let inconclusive projects, but I was so upset that I couldn’t continue. I prefer to try again another day, more calmly.
Lo peor de todo es que no pude terminarlo porque me estaba quedando TAN DESPROLIJO que me pareció una pérdida de tiempo y materiales seguir adelante… así que lo abandoné. Odio dejar las cosas inconclusas, pero ya estaba demasiado molesta por no poder lograrlo que creo que eso me estaba perjudicando. Así que preferí intentarlo de nuevo otro día, con más calma.
I love lace lingerie, it’s so beautiful. I really want to learn how to do it well. I will be proud to say “I did this beautiful brassiere!” LOL. I’m going to practice until I can do it! This is only a stumbling block to me.
La lencería de encaje me parece hermosa. De verdad quiero aprender a hacerla bien. Me sentiría orgullosa de decir “¡esta prenda la hice yo!”, así que voy a seguir practicando hasta que me salga. Esto es solo un tropiezo para mí.
