Not all young animals are cute! Animals with unbelievably ugly babies(+ LEAH THE WOMBAT REDDIT STAR)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but these juvenile animals woun't win any beauty contest.

Wombat is a native Australian wildlife. They look so cute (with fur!) until recently I saw an ugly baby wombat picture. The baby in this picture is 'Leah' a now a famous web celebrity after being a subject of the "Reddit photoshop battle".She was named Leah by the animal foster carer who saved her life after her mother was hit and killed by a car. A sad story standing behind this picture. Altought it looks hilarious and like some kind of fantasy creature.

...enough from Leah

An suitable name : Seriemasare the last descendants of the extinct " terror birds ". They do not only look particularly nasty , even their hunting behavior is rough : they use their head and beak like an ax to chop again and again on their victim. At least the oddish exterior will amalgamate over time , and so it goes along with a few other baby animals.

This young Pidgeot is waiting impatiently for it's full plumage.

Springhare look - especially before they reach maturity - as if they were the animal model for Gollum from " Lord of the Rings ". However, they are nocturnal and therefore not so often exposed to prying eyes .

The naked mole rat is here representative for all ugly animals. It is, as its name suggests, sparse hair growth. His pink-brownish skin is already wrinkled even at birth. Huge chisel tooth protrude like excavator buckets, because the lips cover the mouth only behind .

Weighing only about 30 kg when they were born, Sumatran rhino calves have disproportionate head-body-leg ratio. Even worse: their big head is horn-less. Who would think it’s a rhino when they don’t even have horns?
