Welcome to another day of the #botanicalgardentours. Today I want to present to you the Ageratum Houstonianum, also known as the Mexican Paintbrush.
Herzlich willkommen zu einem weiteren Tag mit den #botanicalgardentours. Heute möchte ich euch die Ageratum Houstonianum vorstellen, die auch als Leberbalsam bekannt ist.
The Ageratum Houstonianum is an annual plant that is native to central america and the southern parts of mexico. This plant grows in bushes that can get as high as 60 cm and loves the direct and hot sun paired with a wet soil. This makes it the perfect candidate for a tropical climate. It even blossoms from may to november so that you can admire its beauty nearly the whole year. As beautiful as this flowers may look, it even has heart shaped leaves, they are very nasty if it comes to their defence strategies. Not only is this plant toxic and induces liver lesions it consumed, but it also produces some chemicals that leave you sterilized. Very nasty and sustained indeed !
Die Ageratum Houstonianum ist eine einjährige Pflanze die in Zentralamerika und in den südlichen Regionen Mexikos beheimatet ist. Sie wächst wächst in Sträuchern die bis zu 60 cm hoch werden können und liebt die direkte und heiße Sonne gepaart mit einer leicht feuchten Erde. Dies macht sie zum perfekten Kandidaten für ein tropisches Klima. Sie blüht sogar von Mai bis November, so das man diese kleine Schönheit fast das ganze Jahr über bewundern kann. So schön diese Blumen auch aussehen mögen, sie haben sogar herzförmige Blätter, sind die wirklich sehr fies wenn es um ihre Abwehrstrategien geht. Nicht nur ist sie giftig und führt zu Leberläsionen, sondern produziert auch einige Chemikalien die sterilisierend wirken. In der Tat sehr fies und auch nachhaltig !
