What is it that brings value to any economy…?
Investments.
You are effectively showing that you believe in a product when you invest in that product, be it a business or, in this case, a token. The more people that believe in said product, and invest, the more that product is able to develop and benefit those who invested in it. Whilst LOTUS might not be worth a lot now, simply selling it all off whilst it's at such a low price doesn't benefit you at all. Staking helps the entire economy. This is where Proof of Stake (PoS) comes into effect.
What is Proof of Stake (PoS)?
PoS is a system put in place that has been developed to create rewards for those who have staked their tokens. Users are rewarded a proportional amount when tokens are staked back into the system
What is Staking and how is it done?
Staking is basically another way of saying that you are investing a certain amount of tokens back into the system. Staking can be accomplished by logging into Steem-Engine and clicking on your wallet. You will see a lock icon on the far right, in line with the token you would like to stake.
Or, you can do it through www.naturalmedicine.io and simply power up your LOTUS just like you do on any other front end such as Steemit.com or Steempeak.com.
What does this mean for LOTUScoin and how can I benefit?
LOTUScoin has enabled the PoS system for LOTUScoin via Scotbot. Five percent (5%) of the reward pool, 1800 LOTUS, equalling 90 LOTUS, will be distributed proportionally to users who have staked their LOTUS tokens. LOTUScoin operating accounts will be receiving rewards as well, but any PoS rewards will be sent to @null at the end of each month and burned to decrease circulation.
You can now earn LOTUS simply by staking your liquid LOTUS!
