Meugang Day, an Acehnese People Tradition Welcomed of Eid Fitr - MyPictureDay

Hello fellow Steemians!

Here are some photos and articles about the hereditary traditions that exist in Aceh province when welcoming Eid Fitr, and this tradition will only be found in Aceh, Indonesia.

This tradition is called "Meugang" or "Mak Meugang", which is similar to cutting beef during the feast of Eid al-Adha.

If the traditions of Meugang, the traders slaughter the cows for sale to the community and then buy to cook a variety of culinary at home to eat with the family, while during the celebration of Eid al-Adha, slaughter of livestock or goat done by various circles of society to be distributed to the poor.

In addition to this unique meugang tradition, this tradition also takes place three times a year, ie one day before the holy month of Ramadan, Idul Fitri, and also one day before the celebration of Eid al-Adha.

Although the Meugang tradition of meat prices is expensive, but all the people of Aceh has become an obligation to buy it, ranging from middle to upper class, to middle to lower, although only able to buy a little.

In addition to buying meat, people also buy other necessities to cook typical Acehnese food or culinary, such as buying vegetables, and cooking spices.

Meugang day tradition is started from early morning until noon, the public was crowded out into the market until noon.
