Sawadee hivers! beyond excited to finally be on here and meet amazing people! I am Sway Cañete, friends and family call me Sway, inspired by the word "Suay" which means "beautiful" in Thailand, I am a proud trans woman from Cebu. I have been sharing my life on Social Media for years now, and I'm glad to discover this new platform. I am a graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Management but my work experience is far from my field of professional expertise. I have worked in the BPO Industry and as well as an English Teacher for non-native speakers. On the side, I freelance as a Make-up Artist and Event Host.
What has gotten me to join this beautiful community are my sisters, @sassycebuana and @jongcl, who have been in the blogging world for years now. Personally, I had my fair share of online presence, I used to vlog on Youtube, mainly focusing on Makeup Tutorials, I have been on the platform since I was 18 but never got the recognition I was hoping for, so I stopped. Nonetheless, my immense passion for makeup and beauty is still highly there.
The first time I ever fell in love with the idea of makeup was because of my sister, @sassycebuana, back when she was still starting her career as a Blogger, she would make photo tutorials on how to achieve certain looks, and I remember watching her with so much interest and hopes that one day I'd be doing the same thing too. I started learning how to do makeup proactively when I was 18, after a report on Professional Grooming, I then binge-watched a lot of makeup tutorials. Then with the little knowledge I had, I started practicing on all of my sisters, thankfully I had 5 of them, so I was really able to practice on different face shapes and structures. I mastered my skill when I worked as a Studio Makeup Artist in an Online Casino somewhere in Cebu, wherein I got to work with professional makeup artists with vast experiences. With that experience, my list of clients grew and I started freelancing while studying at the same time. To me, the beauty of makeup will forever be something I'll be proud of. The confidence that makeup has brought to my life really made a difference in how I face the world despite criticism and backlash.
As I was passionate about making videos online, this also sparked my interest in Hosting. I would say that I'm the type of person who likes to master a handful of things, and hosting became one of them. As someone who used to stutter a lot in High-school, I never really thought that I'll eventually venture into hosting, but because I vlog a lot, it made me practice how to speak better and present myself in a way people would be interested in. My first huge Event was when I hosted a Closing Activity for Intramurals in my own university during my Sophomore year, with hundreds of students in the audience. From then on, I became a regular host in our University, and at the same time accepted bookings outside like birthdays, weddings, beauty pageants and other social functions.
Aside from sharing things about Beauty & Hosting, I'd also like to use this platform to help spread awareness about the Transgender Community, as an advocate, I really want to hopefully educate people on the things that my community goes through on a daily. I have been very vocal about my thoughts on certain issues that concern my community on Tiktok, so if you'd like to know more of that you can visit my Tiktok Account @swaycanete.
