One of the big trends in my area of California is to upgrade the movie theaters and sell food and drinks as if you were in a restaurant. They are getting pretty innovative too - simply take a pic of the QR code at your chair, place your order, pay online, then they bring the food and drinks in to you!
My wife and I are not big movie buffs but we recently saw Free Guy (ended up being a good movie), and ordered some food and drinks:
Not a bad way to enjoy a film! Of course, with the cost of movie tickets getting outrageous they are trying to have as many cross revenue sources to get you from multiple angles, but hey, you need to pay for entertainment right!
Fun times. My wife and I are planning to go to move movies soon - assuming there is something we are interested in seeing!
