It's In Your Head, Zom-bay, Zom-bay, Zom-bay-ay-ay-ay-oh-oh: the great American smokeout

hahah flashback image!!! Because it's a stoney Sunday and I don't feel like fucking around in Photoshop right now. :)

I woke up hours ago, but I've been busy. My wife has been working third shift this weekend at the hospital, and we're also dogsitting my brother's dog.

I don't know if this is something that is common with everyone or not, but I seemingly wake up with a song already in my head every single morning. There is often no reason why it should be there. I hadn't heard it in the previous day, hadn't discussed it, nothing.

TODAY'S ENTRY:

THE SNAKE THE CROSS THE CROWN - The Great American Smokeout

Biggest entry in terms of number of characters in the combination of the artist name and song title. Perhaps? I may have taken the liberty of truncating a couple of official titles on some of the previous entries.

I love this band. They're whiny, though. At least the singer is. ha. If you get their DVD like I did, they basically spend the whole time complaining about how they're not more popular, and how there are just too many bands in the world. Well, these dudes may have done a lot of touring in a couple of years, but they also changed their style basically with every release. So it's not entirely surprising that they may have struggled to make and keep fans in a couple of years with a couple of albums. I love all of their releases, though, and the songs will also be some of my favorite. The last album is seriously so amazing, though. I'd love to see them ride again to be honest. Shit, they're probably younger than I am. ha.

This song is catchy AF, though. This whole album is great. These dudes should've stayed together and made more albums, dammit. I do declare!

Humming to himself as he
Is thinking of his latest debts
Juggling some numbered thoughts
Wondering what might come next
And swears he won't
Ever stop
Unless he wants which
He surely does not

Oh, Jim, John, Jackie, and Susie Q
They mind their manners but so do you
While we breathe all of these words that make no sense

Humming to himself as he
Is thinking of his latest debts
Juggling some numbered thoughts
Wondering what might come next
And swears he's right
Though he's convinced himself it is

Working in an upscale place
She's thinking of her son's demise
On his epitaph a doctor's bill
She puts off for another time
And swears she won't
Ever stop
Unless she wants what
She surely does not

Oh, Jim, John, Jackie, and Susie Q
They mind their manners but so do you
While we breathe all of these words that make no sense

Not gonna see till my singing does me wrong
Not gonna hear until the fires have burned on
Not gonna know
Not gonna know
Not gonna know
Till the singing does me wrong

Do you wake up with songs in your head on a regular basis? What song was in your head this morning? Comment below, I'd love to hear from you!
