In 2012, Donson and I put together an independent label called City of Soul Labs.
City of Soul Labs. is more than just a modern Record Label, but it is also a movement based primarily on deep philosophical and spiritual foundations.
The name was derived from the historical philosopher, Plato, who created the “City and the Soul” model which says that the state of one’s soul correlates into the society one lives in. By using this model and applying it today, City of Soul Labs. carries an energy that attracts nothing but good vibes and all the things needed for a free thinking yet, deeply connected society of artists.
In 2012, our vision began as a musical laboratory and has since grown into more than just music, but also a way of life. We have combined these elements of life and existence through song for the purpose of elevating the Hip-Hop community and as time went on, we began to see how our individual journey’s as people directly correlated to the vision. The society we were looking at was also in us, and through transparency, we collectively achieve elevation together.
The realization is that the eye with which we see our vision is looking right back at us, and existence is becoming conscious of itself. Hip Hop has been the vehicle that has driven City of Soul Labs. to connect the dots between.
