Music Heals My Soul - Haiku - Profound Wisdom Heals it in Different Ways

Music heals my soul
It lifts my mind and spirit
and makes me feel whole

My husband's band, King Poyaviack, released a new song a few days ago, and you can hear it here if you so desire.

This is a fun piece, and I think you'll enjoy it, especially if you enjoy improvisational and/or experimental music.

If you use Spotify, please consider adding it to your playlist, which will help out the band a lot.

I've been attempting to upload the cover image for the song, which I designed, but thanks to our abysmally slow rural internet, the upload keeps failing.

The name of the song is "Omission Impossible," which I love.

The band is hard to categorize, but we've settled on "orchestral improvisational acid jazz," which at least gives an idea of what the music is like. It is 100% improvised, with an ever-changing lineup of musicians, meaning that every moment of the music was recorded in a single take.

Those who have followed me for a while may recall that the "King" in King Poyaviack is an homage to Robert Fripp and King Crimson; another musician almost impossible to categorize, because he simply does so many different things, plays in so many styles and genres, and musically rarely repeats himself.

Which, of course, is one of the primary reasons why we all love him, because he is still making music over fifty years after starting King Crimson, is still rocking the house, as one of the greatest guitarists in the history of rock music, and still surprises his listeners on a nearly constant basis.

And so many other musicians who have been inspired by Robert Fripp have put themselves on a similar path: those like English musician, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Steven Wilson, lead man of Porcupine Tree, and half of the art rock duos no-man and Blackfield, who has gained five Grammy nominations and counting for his 5:1 surround sound mixes alone; and Polish vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mariusz Duda, lead man of the progressive rock band Riverside, and his own project Lunatic Soul; among many others.

The frustrating thing is that, thanks to our abysmal rural internet service, I tried to post this about a week ago, and it went into a terminal loop, and STILL didn't send. And the image I selected, the cover for the song in question, wouldn't upload at all.

Aaarrgghh.

Meanwhile, Dr. Srikumar Rao, from whom I took the Quest for Personal Mastery course through Mindvalley.com a few years back, invited me to be a part of the book launch for his newest book: "Modern Wisdon, Ancient Roots," which I was more than happy to take part in, having gotten a lot from his teachings in the past.

My review of his wonderful, important, and potentially life changing book follows:

Book Review: Modern Wisdom, Ancient Roots; by Dr. Srikumar Rao

I first came across a reference to Dr. Srikumar Rao and his work while reading Vishen Lakhiani's excellent book, “The Code of the Extraordinary Mind,” in which he devoted an entire chapter to Dr. Rao's work. Dr. Rao has been consulting and working with high level business people and CEOs for many years.

Shortly thereafter, Lakhiani's company Mindvalley partnered with Dr. Rao for a video course, entitled “The Quest for Personal Mastery,” based upon the masters-level course he's been teaching for years to students at some of the world's best and most prestigious business schools.

I signed up for the course at once, and was very grateful that I did, as I went through the Quest at the same time I was going through Lakhiani's course based upon his book, and taking copious notes on both; I found the dual journey to be extremely valuable to my own personal and spiritual journey and growth.

As a past student, and a subscriber on his own site, I was invited by Dr. Rao to read an ARC of his new book, and to give my honest review, which I am more than pleased to do.

Like his Quest for Personal Mastery course, with Mindvalley, this book is presented in short, self-contained chapters, each providing a lesson that is simple, yet profound. And, as he has often said himself, simple does not always translate to easy.

The majority of chapters range between two to four pages each, written in plain and straightforward language, so he has taken with his lessons to make them accessible and understandable to everyone, and the book is a fast read as a result.

And, if you do the work, and actually implement the lessons in your own life, your life will undoubtedly be the better for it.

The lessons are presented so that each lesson builds upon the last, so that by the end of the book, you should have already begun seeing real changes in your own life.

In the final section of the book, Dr. Rao presents a series of exercises relating to the previous chapters, which if done with the intent to internalize the lessons presented therein, will help to propel you in multiple areas of your life.

In short, I highly recommend the book, as Dr. Rao's insights, while deceptively simple, will absolutely change the way you relate to your world, to your life, and to everything and everyone in it.

And you will be the richer for the journey.

To say that I have gotten a lot from Dr. Rao's teachings is an understatement, as his teachings are simple, yet deeply meaningful, and he has a knack for teaching them in such a way that challenges the student to internalize the lessons, soas to have them handy in your toolbox going forward.

One of the things I loved about his Quest for Personal Mastery is that the lessons presented were simple and straightforward, with each video lasting six to ten minutes on average, with each video confined to a single lesson.

His book, as stated above, is presented in a similar fashion, which works exceptionally well with the ways in which the majority of us learn best.

I'll leave it here for tonight, as I still have some other tasks to complete, but give the book a read, as I strongly believe that it can help you to improve your life in ways that little else can.

Love you all!
