The special mysterious artist Poppy, who’s leading a magical cult is back and with an evolved sound. Her image might be weird and she might seem like the strangest thing you’ve ever witnessed, but she does deliver some interesting conceptual records that really boggle your mind, because while they might seem shallow if you just see everything on the surface level, they’re really gripping and fascinating if you take in the whole message, concept and delve deeper into the puzzling world of Poppy.
The lead single off of her upcoming album “Am I A Girl?” has been fired at our faces, ears, minds and our whole auras, existences etc. and we can’t help but be happy about it because Poppy has resurfaced and blessed us with new music. It’s truly a spiritual experience that only the goddess could provide. If I had to give a less “Possessed by Poppy” opinion, the song is an actual banger. It has that signature playful bubblegum vibe, the synths are edgy and cut through, the beat is bouncy, evokes happiness and just flows really well. The lyrics are really on-brand, it’s flexing in her own way, a Poppy-esque take on the trend that’s really popular right now especially in hip-hop music, showing everyone who’s the upcoming supreme leader of the universe by singing “I am busy and important”.
All in all, I’m really excited for new material from Poppy. It’s shaping up to be a project to behold and watch out for. You can never know when she might take over the world and we might just hear “I’m Poppy” all the time on the radio, so we need to get used to her voice right now. In all seriousness, “In A Minute” is a good pop bop that spreads happy vibes.
