🎬Watching novelties: Liar and Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders

Hello!
Today in the short review there are two novelties: a criminal drama based on real events and the investigation of a sexual crime.

Liar

Cast: Joanne Froggatt, Ioan Gruffudd, Zoe Tapper, Warren Brown, Shelley Conn.

Plot: A famous surgeon rapes or does not rape his acquaintance. Everyone is trying to find out what really happened.

Available Episodes 3/6

My opinion: From the very first minutes of the episode, the picture tightened. Cloudy, though the sun is visible. Ocean. Waves. It reminds me of "The Killing", although there are no murders in the series yet (I watched only the first episode), judging by the mental intensity of the main character, the murder is quite possible.

The first thought that I had when I watched the series was Confusion. Whom to believe? A heroine who allegedly remembers the rape? She has an incomprehensible past and many skeletons. Or a famous surgeon who saved people's lives? A fine father? To the husband who has lost his wife?

The intrigue is good, the main character-Joanne Froggatt, in my opinion, is overacting. And Ioan Griffith does not look like a rapist. So, I have questions on the selection of actors for the main roles, but overall, Liar is not bad. The story is interesting.

Law & Order: True Crime

Cast: Sterling Beaumon, Edie Falco, Constance Marie, Miles Gaston Villanueva, James DuMont.

Plot: Beverly Hills, 1989. Someone brutally kills parents of Erik and Lyle Menendez. The police quickly find out what happened. The story is based on real events.

Available Episodes 1/8

My opinion: I love stories based on real events, especially if these are not famous stories. About The Menendez family, I learned only after the release of the series "Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders" and I was struck by the cruelty with of which the parents of the guys were killed. Knowing the names of the killers, the series keeps the viewer trying to understand their motivation, as well as gathering evidence.

The story is shown on three sides: alleged murderers, their future lawyer, and the police.
Among the cast, there is Edie Falco who ideally played Nurse Jackie - one of my favorite medical shows (except last seasons). In the first episode, her scenes were the most noticeable. In the future, it should be much more. I await her interesting speeches in a court, I also want to see how she will build the protection of her clients.

I think we will get an interesting look "from the inside" about the investigation of one of the murders that shook the US in its time.
