Firstly, spoiler warning, yes there will be a few of them so consider yourself warned. Well lets start with the acting, Brie Larson has the emotional range of a wooden plank in this movie, which is so strange because she was utterly phenomenal in the film, Room. Then there are just major writing issues I had with this film, for example Nick Fury is now a some quirky comedic relief character, which is totally out of character, and it comes off like the writers did no research. The story is littered with plot holes and things happening for no apparent reasons, other than just to move the plot forward. There was also a fair amount pointless posturing towards feminist male bashing, in the form of montages of just men putting her down and saying she's not good enough. The main issue I had with this film was that she goes from having no real power apart from emotion beams that shoot from her hands, to literally being a god, with the most powerful powers ever, and she know exactly how to use them. There was no trial or training, no failure which then make an audience care more and she learns to overcome and finally win at the end. This was no different to the last Transformers film.
"Set in the mid-1990s, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds." - Marvel Entertainment
"War is a universal language. I know a renegade soldier when I see one. It never occurred to me that one might come from above. Space invasion, a big car chase. Truth be told, I was ready to hang it up until I met you today." - Nick Fury
