Standing On The Truth

There is one thing that will endure the passage of time and will remain unchanged: that thing is "truth." No matter how long a lie has lasted and no matter how popular it may be, the truth will always prevail someday. Nothing will out-last the truth because, when a truth is said, it stands firm. Standing with the truth also means that you are standing firm. If you tilt towards lies, you will still need multiple lies to cover it up and at the end of the day, it will blow up. You see, the kind of stress involved in covering up lies will not be worth it at the end.

When you are known for saying the truth, people will not have difficulty in trusting you. Truth is not a function of your environment but a function of what you are made of. There is no justifiable reason to give to tilt towards the pathway of lies. No matter the environment you find yourself in and no matter what happens, you can be as truthful and honest as possible, it you wish to.

It is worthy to note that truth, just as lies, is a product of choice. If you make the choice to be truthful, you should try to abide by it irrespective of what happens along the way. Note this: it will always pay to be on the side of the truth. A single lie that is told, if discovered, can destroy years of building of trust. This is why you cannot risk comprising your truth for lies. No matter the guise that lies come, it will not be preferred over the truth.

A lot of people give excuses for lies as "necessary evil." Well, just to let you know, everyday will always present to you the opportunity to either tell the truth or deviate to lies. What you do with the opportunity is your own responsibility. Whatever pathway you tilt towards - whether truth or lies, will always have results at the end. I have heard many name that people use to cover up lies: like "alternate truth", "political correctness", "diplomatic assertion". If it is a lie, then it is not justified as the truth, because lies cannot superimpose on truth.

To gain trust for bigger things, you should be faithfully honest in small things first. If you cannot keep to the truth when small things are entrusted into your hands, it may be almost impossible for you to be truthful in a much bigger thing. Truth is far easier. This is because, not only will you not have a problem with remembering what you said even after years have passed, you will not be scared of accusations. I am sure many people have heard of this widely used quote:

A clear conscience does not fear accusation

A clear conscience is one that is borne out of truth and not lies. Obviously, anything built on lies is like building a structure on a sinking sandy soil - it will not stand the test of time. Building on the truth is like having a structure built on a solid foundation, no matter what happens, it will not be moved. Do no allow what happens in and around you to make you to tilt away from the path of truth.
