Don't Miss An Opportunity To Do Good

Most times, people's blessings come by blessing others. It may be the good act that you do today that will be remembered in the time that you need help. If you check very well, you will notice that the person that is often ready and willing to do good never lacks goodness. As a matter of fact, when you sow goodness, then you cannot but harvest goodness.

A few months back, a particular person held an event in the eastern part of Nigeria. The event was so large that he would have spent heavily for the event. However, before, during, and after the event, people so much raised funds for him that he had an excess of millions left after the event that he began to distribute the money to others. It was so much that it made the national headline news for many days.

When asked about how he got so much people around him and so much sponsors even when he did not ask for any, his answer made a meaning to me. He said: "when others were busying raising money for themselves, he was busy raising people". You see, those that he raised and those that he made to stand on their feet are now the ones reciprocating the gesture. Imagine if he ate alone, he would have missed out of being part of something beautiful.

There is no help that you rendered to someone that ever goes into waste. Somehow and someday, posterity will remember you for it. When you see helps as the seeds that you are sowing into the future, you will not need anyone to encourage you to help others. More so, there is great joy that comes when you cause the heart of others to be happy through your acts of goodness to them.

When you have any opportunity to do good, do not let it to pass you buy. I read about a particular king that wanted to reward someone that has the heart of goodness. In the night, he secretly placed a big stone on the central pathway to the market square where people normally pass through to see who will be kind enough to remove the stone. The next day; which is the market day; many people passed that road and all they did was to complain and to curse who kept the stone, and then they would avoid the stone narrowly and pass.

This happened for almost the whole of the day until a particular poor farmer was passing the road. He quickly noticed that the stone was not there the previous day and it was obstructing the pathway. He had to drop the basket he had on his head and went on to move the stone out of the road. However, when he moved the large stone, he noticed that a piece of paper and a small bag was hidden under the stone. It got his attention.

When he took up the paper, it was from the king and it reads "congratulations to whoever cares to move this stone, your act of goodness is rewarded with the bag beside this paper." When he picked up the bag, it was full of diamonds. This was what changed the life of the farmer. You see, he would have missed this fortune if he had acted like the others and avoided the stone.

Most times, what you call obstacle is what may hold the breakthrough that you need. You should not wait for anyone's motivation for you to do good. Your acts of goodness should be without recourse to what anyone thinks or what anyone does. People may be cruel but it does not mean you should reciprocate with cruelty. You can overcome their cruelty with your acts of goodness, just the way the introduction of light will overcome darkness.
