Consequences of the Actions of Today

There is nothing that you do today that does not have effect at a later time. As a matter of fact, actions, no matter how negligible they may look, have consequences. The truth is that the only thing you have control of is your action but not what the consequences will bring. You can direct your actions as you will, but you will have to welcome the results when they come. It is the sum total of what you do today (as actions and inactions) that will form your future.

When you want to act, you have to put your future into consideration. If you will not want the kind of result that the action will bring in the future, then you should stay clear of the action. If a farmer does not want to harvest maize in his farm when the planting season comes, then he will not need to plant maize seed during the planting season. What this means is that the fruits that you reap is a direct function of what your seeds are.

You will agree with me that it is the sum total of the actions that were taken in the past that formed the result that people are seeing in the present. In the same way, the sum total of the actions that will go on in the present moment will eventually become the results of tomorrow. The truth is, the actions of the past have already gone, so you can only wait for the result but cannot edit the action itself. However, the good news is that it is within your direct ability to dictate the result of tomorrow by acting accordingly today.

Everyone may have the right of their actions, just as everyone is given the freewill of consciousness and conscience, but what you do with your freewill will come with their own results. The reason why there are principles that guide many things about human life and endeavours is so as to direct our actions aright. If you follow the principle in a particular thing, then you will gain the reward in it, but if you flout the principles, then you will be sure to get the consequences.

I remember what happened in a particular Olympics game of many years ago. In one of the running games, the athletes took off and after the race, one athlete braced the finish-line first. Everyone would have thought that he would be given the title, but it was discovered that he flouted one of the principles of the game by stepping out of the line onto the other competitor's line for a moment. That singular action disqualified him from obtaining the medal.

You see, some actions that people take with the intention that "it does not matter" or that they are negligible have very strong consequences, so you have to think about the future so as to know that kind of action you are to take today. In academic for example, a student that chooses to remain inactive when others are studying, when the time of exams comes, they will realize the consequences of what they have done. However, when the student has studied extensively, the reward will come positively when the result of the exam is released.

If everyone will think for a moment before they act, the events of random, irrational and unwholesome actions will be reduced. So always carry your brain along before you act.
