One Year on Steemit

Hi Everyone,

ONEYEARTHUMB.jpg

I have made it a year on Steemit. Two days ago marked my one year anniversary on Steemit. It has certainly been an exciting year. I feel far more excited about my first year on Steemit compared to my time on other social media platforms. I don’t know or really care about my anniversary on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube. Steemit feels different.

I think investing my own money into Steem has definitely pulled me closer to Steemit. Earning potential from posts is also another pull factor as well. I have not been a big socialiser on Steemit but the people I have spent time with have been great. I have been very fortunate to get to know and become friends with @sweetsssj, as most of you will know, she is one of Steemit’s top talents. She encouraged me to spend more time and to invest in Steem. I took her advice and I bought most of my Steem when the price was under US$1. I also made content for Steemit as a priority over other platforms. I try to talk to her as much as possible. We have some really great conversations. She is definitely an important reason I am committed to the Steem platform. I have also used @sweetsssj and her content as an advertisement for Steemit. My sister (@vegoutt-travel) joined Steemit because she was inspired by @sweetsssj’s travel posts. In my second year on Steemit, I want to try and bring as many people (authors and investors) as I can to the platform using my content and knowledge of the Steem universe.

What have I done in my first year?

Here is the link to my Steemit accomplishments:

Steemitboard offers a nice little summary of accomplishments in terms of quantity of output and awards. This of course is only numbers. You need to take a much closer look at my page and decide for yourself how worthy my contributions might be.

There are not many authors on Steemit that focus on economics. I cover a very broad range of topics in relation to economics. I cover the theory that I believe to be most relevant to readers interested in economics. I like to include as much application of economics as I can so that my readers are aware that the theory actually leads to something. I also post about how economics affects our daily lives. I have even written a few posts regarding how economics applies to the steem platform. I am also willing to dig and explain how economics has also been abused and used to work against the general public.

I have a few favourite series and projects such as my dark side of economics series, cost benefit analysis, game theory and cruelty-free economics. I will continue to put more effort into those as the content is applicable to most of my readers even if it is not particularly obvious from the start.

I also run contests on Steemit. I have held 16 puzzle contests, 5 meme contests, and a six week economics challenge series. I am starting up another series of contests very soon. I want to try and bring as much of my economics content as I can into the contests as well as keep them entertaining. So far my contests have been very popular, which is very encouraging.

If you want to know about my content, I have created a library of works of my posts. This library can be accessed using the following links.

Where to in Year 2?

I do not plan on making too many changes in regards to the general direction of my account. I will continue to focus on economics and I will continue to have the occasional contest as well. I am planning on reducing the number of technical posts and moving more to explaining how economics is being used in the real world. The continuation of my dark side series will become an important part of my channel.

I will also be posting regarding the role of economics in Steemit. I will discuss how economics is currently being used and the effect that it is having on the overall Steem platform environment. I will be discussing curation, use of bots, advertising, delegation, relationship with other cryptocurrencies and several other areas. How well is the Steem platform operating? How well does Steemit stack up compared to other forms of social media? I will use some of these posts to promote Steem to people on other platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit etc. I will also try and use my professional contacts to promote the platform as well. I think I needed a year to get a feel for the platform and understand where it is going.

New Look

As I have entered my second year on Steemit, I have decided to change my profile picture. I have gone with a photograph of myself wearing my new Charizard onesie. Powerful fierce fire breathing dragon that is also somehow quite approachable. I hope this new look brings in a great second year.

My account has also been verified by Steemcleaners. You can be 100% sure that I am the real Wayne Davies. If you want to know more about my credentials here is a link to my Linkedin profile.
