Nepal is tremendously diverse and it has many tracks and trails which are ideal for mountain biking. The mountain bike is an ideal, go anywhere, versatile machine for exploring Nepal. These attributes make it possible to escape paved roads and to ride tracks and ancient walking trails to remote, rarely visited areas of the country. It allows people to go around and explore Nepal independently. You can go where ever you like, stop where ever you want and you can keep yourself away from crowded buses.

Nepal has become very popular for biking adventures- challenging mountain roads that climb thousands of metres to reach spectacular viewpoints, followed by unforgettable, exhilarating descents. The Terai region has flat smooth roads and mountain biking is an excellent way of getting to the Royal Chitwan National Park. For the adventurous there are large areas of the country still to be explored by mountain bike.

Traffic in Nepal is left hand side, even though you will find people travelling from any directions. Nepali roads has many types of vehicles : Tempos, trucks, cars, auto rickshaws, motorbikes, tractors etc. You will also find holy cows running around on the roads doing traffic duties. Unfortunately Kathmandu city is becoming a very unpleasant place to ride bike due to increasing pollution and poor traffic conditions. The best route to ride mountain bikes is Dhulikhel- Namobuddha- Panauti and Nagarkot.

Things to carry when visiting: I would not say this is the complete list but it is nice to take with you if you are visiting Nepal.
Cycling clothing, warm hat and gloves, sun protection cream, water bottles, torch light, fleecy top for evenings, helmet, bike tools, bike bell, air pump for bike, lightweight clothing, wind cheater , decent amount of money.
You can hire other bits eg tents, sleeping bags for cheaper in Kathmandu.
