In the city elections, MPA can participate in the campaign

Election Commission (EC) has approved the amendment of the City Corporation Election Conduct Rules, allowing the participation of the MPs to participate in the campaign.

EC secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told reporters after the meeting of City Corporation Election Code of Criminal Procedure Amendment in Agargaon, told reporters that MPs do not hold any office, use government procurement and use them, and there is no government official involved with them.

Since their terms are not profitable, their names have been excluded from the most important posts. They will be able to take part in the campaign and the amendment commission approved it.
He said that during the election campaign Parliament members will not be able to avail government services like government dak bungalows, circuits, and other government facilities.

The secretary said that the proposal to amend 11 issues in the existing City Corporation Code of Conduct has been proposed. It will now be sent to the Ministry of Law for Vetting.

Responding to the question of journalists whether the MPs could run the campaign in the Gazipur City Corporation election, he said, it has just been passed in the Commission meeting. Now it will go to the Ministry of Law for Veteting. As a result, Gazipur's opportunity is very low.

Officials of the EC said that the ministry can publish the EC's Gazette at the end of the meeting.
