What is Love?

Love is the underlying force of the universe. You may put the pieces together in a different configuration, and say it is light, or space, or chaos, or order, and you will also be correct. How you choose to frame the mechanisms of the universe does not make my statement any less true, in the context it is meant.

What do I mean when I say Love? I don’t mean Love to mean a chain reaction of neurotransmitters in your brain. There is the feeling of love, and there is the act of Love. In this, I mean Love is a verb. It is the action of universal processes.

If a gardener loves his garden, he will tend and care for it. He will make the garden prosperous. He will protect it, just as he would his children. To Love something is to put its highest desires and interests in the forefront of your judgment as you proceed through life.

If we think of the universe being a process that is maximizing Love over the long run, we can see all emergent phenomena is the manifestation of greater, more complex futures. We can think of atoms coming together as the process of Love, leading to a form which allows the universe to Love itself in more meaningful ways. In this mindset, we can see the culmination of human efforts throughout history to be leading towards a future utopia.

We must Love ourselves and each other to make this dream a reality. We are not there yet, and the world grows more volatile every day. But, I have faith that we are going to make it. This faith is upheld by the countless volunteers who consistently lend a hand during disasters like Hurricane Harvey. By groups such as the Earth Nation who are manifesting novelty in our garden, opening new doors for each of us as we enter a brave new world. By the light I see people creating every single day as our world grows brighter and more aware of our oneness.

How can you Love the most you can? It starts with you. You must Love yourself. To do that, you must first know who you are. What is it you truly desire to do with your life? What are you made to do? If you do not have these answers, discovering the self is the greatest act of Love you can manifest. For when you know what you want to do, you will love doing it. It will no longer be work, as the desire to sink your time into it comes naturally. From there, mastery is inevitable.

Once you know and grow yourself, you will automatically grow the garden using your unique talents and helping those who walk a similar path find their way. As we head further into the future, and we grow increasingly more interconnected, each of our potential to impact others grows exponentially. We are at the doorstep of a great new world: one made and filled with Love. Utopia is dawning, and we are entering it together.
