Having a healthy life can be a matter of habit and adaptation

A healthy life brings several benefits in terms of quality of life and also for the environment. At first, your body thanks you, as it will have more resistance with a strong immune system, preventing diseases. Then, the environment will be less degraded due to more conscious and healthy attitudes, such as taking less medication, riding a bicycle and walking, instead of using the car, and climbing the stairs, instead of using the elevator.

But it is only possible to achieve this healthy lifestyle with a change of habit and a greater awareness of daily actions. Changing behavior and routine are necessary measures to have a healthy life. To help you with these changes, below are some tips, habits and steps you should follow.

Habits for a healthy life

- Wash your hands

Most people touch their eyes or nose once every three hours. This custom is not good, as each rub can carry harmful microorganisms. Therefore, it is important to wash your hands not only before eating a meal, but many times a day, to end the germ exchange.

- Remember to drink water

The same dry winter air that causes the lips to crack also sucks the moisture from the nose and throat. The ability to fend off viruses before they take over your body depends on a steady stream of secretions, which are aided by water. So, drink at least eight to ten glasses a day. Be careful about drinking caffeinated drinks, as they dehydrate the body.

- Abandon sugar and soft drinks

Adults eat an average of 135 pounds of sugar a year. Most people cannot metabolize the sugar they consume because it quickly turns into fat. And when sugar is eaten, the immune system is "frozen" for up to two hours, during which viruses and other foreign organisms can attack your system, hampering your plans for a healthy life. When you feel like eating candy, try leaving some frozen fruits, such as blackberry, grape or pineapple, to consume later. Consuming bananas can be a delight too.

- Eat more vegetables always

Vegetables are a storehouse of vitamins and minerals essential for your health, that is, they are essential for a healthy life. They will help protect against colds and flu, especially the most colorful vegetables, because they have more nutrients. At certain times of the year, eating a lot of foods rich in vitamins A and C, such as sweet potatoes and pumpkin, helps to improve the immune system.

- Don't have a sedentary lifestyle, play sports or exercise

The practice of physical exercises is an important step towards achieving a healthy life. Exercise helps to increase energy, reduce stress and still keep your weight under control. Make a program of physical activities and add it to your routine; firstly, add the fun factor, conduct fun training and sports. Try to listen to music while walking, read books while on the exercise bike, watch the news when you walk on the treadmill. Whenever possible, ask a friend to do the exercise with you, as this makes the activity more fun and you get more involved in it. And remember, your body needs a day or two of rest.

- Sleeping well is very important

Sleep seven to eight hours every night. Even if you have to reorganize your schedule, get adequate sleep. More than one night of insomnia or poor sleep can seriously affect your immune system. If you are having trouble sleeping, stay tuned to see if the problem is a result of sleep disorders.

- Stay optimistic

Maintaining optimism is not silly, it is focusing on behavior oriented towards positive results. In addition, this habit can prevent memory loss. So says a study published in the journal Science Daily. According to the researchers, people who feel excited and happy are less likely to develop memory decline as they get older.
