I ordered the Keychron last week because it was about time I changed my 8 years old keyboard. It had served me well over the past few years with its clicky blue switches. For my next keyboard, I didn't want a gaming keyboard but I wanted something inbetween, both enthusiast and a gamer. Of course I still prefer mechanical switches. What I'm looking for in my new keyboard is the build quality and I wanted it to be hotswappable. What is hotswappable?

The Hotswappable function allows you to change the switches almost seamlessly. You can unplug these switches and change them for different other types. If you're looking for the more tactile silent type or the noisy clicky types, you can just purchase the switches online and swap them out. But for the Keychron K8 that I've purchased, I ordered the gateron red switches which are linear and silent type of keys. Good for office use and you will really enjoy typing.

Apart from that, this time around, I've decided to go for the tenkeyless AKA TKL keyboard which means there are no numberpads on the side.Although it is a TKL keyboard, the layout is still the same as a normal size keyboard. It comes with dual compatibility, windows or mac function, and you can either use the wire or have it go wireless. As far as I know, this brand started off on kickstarter and have garnered many fans for their well build and affordable pricing. If you're into mechanical keyboards, do check them out.

Most of us are probably used to the common membrane keyboards. You know...the light grey ones in offices. Nowadays, if you spend a lot of time in front of the computer or loves blogging on Hive for example, a good keyboard will really help you enjoy the process. I know after purchasing my first mechanical keyboard that I knew I wasn't going to go back to traditional membrane keyboards.

So far, I've been loving my new keychron K8. I bought it at 100usd and for the premium built that it has, hotswappable switches, RGB backlights, aluminium frame, it is well worth it. Trust me, if you love blogging and typing, you should really try one of these babies.
