Up at our homestead in Brown County Indiana, I've burned off stumps a few times. Takes a long time as an open fire, this is a great idea for concentrating the blaze and keeping it better contained (safer) to boot. I'll have to scout about for an old drum and fashion one myself. Thanks for the tip.
