Todays prompt is actually "meaning of your business name" but i do not have or own a buisness... yet... so i thought i would twist the topic a little bit and do meaning of my given name instead!
My name is ... MELISSA (MEH-LEES-SA)
Melissa, means "Honey Bee" in Greek and has been around since the 18th century. In greek mythology it was the name of the daughter to procles.
A little known fact that i didn't know until researching for this article was that, melissa, also refers to the latin name melissa officialis , know as lemon balm! As a growing plant mom, i now might need to add some lemon balm to my plant family!
In the 1950s, the name melissa became popular in the united states and stayed relevant until about 1990, i am born in 1991. In 2010 fewer then 2,500 girls were given this name whereas at the peak of its popularity, in 1979 more then 30,000 girls were given the name.
So, next.time you see a beautiful, fuzzy, fluttering honey bee... you can think of me :) hehe. Tomorrow's prompt will be "earliest childhood memory" ... stay tuned!
