Floridian Siestas

Abi and I are in FL for a couple days as she has an intensive class in Career Counseling. It has been good to catch up with friends in the area since I spent some formative years here at college.

The weather has been a pleasant 75-80 during the day, and I have been thoroughly enjoying the Vitamin D benefits of constant sunshine. As you can see, it makes for a nice reading atmosphere as I watch Scout play in the backyard. Much different weather than the snow we just left in KY.

No, that is not our dog, our AirBnb hosts have a few pets and we do our best to love on them like they do to us.

Scout and Stella have been good examples for us of loving people no matter who they are, especially when their beliefs are different than our own.

Our hosts are two young ladies who are engaged and looking to get married in the summer. Also, this Airbnb is much different than others we have stayed in, as it is someone’s home rather than separate living quarters they rent out.

If you would have told me a few years that I would be spending a few days in the same home as some lesbians, I would probably think you were a little off your rocker. However, having a wife who works in the counseling field stretches ones boundaries and adventures just a bit.

It has been incredibly inspiring to watch my wife listen and love on our gracious hosts who are wonderful people to spend time with. For myself, the conversations at the work table (Gracie and I both work remote from our laptops) with Gracie have been a lesson in seeing the person and not their choices or the box I would place them in. I am not one for labels as it is, but it can still be hard to see the person sometimes.

This by no means is saying that my thoughts on homosexuality are changing, the Scripture is pretty clear on where God stands there.

However, the experience here is something I will meditate on as I continue working to renew my mind and carry out the two greatest commandments.
