Sometimes you feel blessed and feel like celebrating for whatever may be the cause. For me it was my first ever post that reached over 50 upvotes and that was humbling. On that day, I decided to take my family out (we don't get to do that very often) and try something new. Hanna suggested lamb skewers or 양꼬치 (Yangkkochi) as they are called here . That propositions sounded exciting to me. The question is...
We decided to find out...
We arrived at Bukbu Bus Terminal by...bus! The weather was just perfect. A bit cloudy but very appropriate for Fall.
We walked through this area that looked old and felt well-lived in.
"How old are those buildings over there," I wondered.
This lady was selling some fruit in the alleyway. We bought some apples from her. Daegu is known for having the best apples in Korea.
After asking this apple merchant lady for directions, we were told that we needed to cross the street. My wife took the lead and I followed closely behind.
The place didn't look all too fancy...but, let's not judge the book by its cover!
The fun began when we finally sat down and ordered our lamb...
First came the coals. There was something tranquil about this moment...
I saw this guy who worked there going 20Mph putting lamb on the skewers. Skills! I Thought to my self
If I could, I would eat it all, I mused. We ordered two servings of 10 skewers each. A single serving costs about 11,000won which is roughly $11.
I threw 'em on the grill and they started to roast.
Soon the side dish was served and Kai decided he wanted to try the suicidal hot Korean pepper pickles...
...and he actually loved it! This baby is incredible. Must be his Korean genes...
They brought me some alchemical mix of spices; I dipped my lamb stick in it aaand....
However, something was missing. Ah, yes. I'm at a Chinese lamb restaurant, where's Tsingtao?
What a nice evening. I was satisfied. Ten sticks doesn't sound like much but I could barely finish it.
It was now time to head back. We left the restaurant and sought the nearest bus stop to catch a ride back to our home area.
It was getting dark and we needed to rest after all the walking.
