Embrace that Which You Fear to Progress

Fear stands in the way of progress, whether it is a figment of our mind or extant.

When fear exists, we have a choice to fight or flight.

As long as you have blood pumping through your body, you can confront your fears. I am not urging anyone to do something stupid or take an unnecessary risk. Precautions should be taken to pursue your goal. When you cook, you should wear a hot mit, and when you ascend to heights, you should wear a safety harness. We need to assess the risk and make a plan to tackle the issue.

Are you afraid of the future and what it might bring? What can you do right now to set yourself up for future challenges and harm? Can you get specialized training? Save money in an emergency fund or build your network? Take a step in the right direction to allay your fears.

Is your fear based on social interaction or anxiety? Is it related to a fear you will fail at an endeavor you wish to succeed? How can you safeguard your goal by enhancing your skills? Take an inner locus of control perspective and take a survivor's stance. You can control your actions and attitude to position yourself to survive.

To make progress we need to be uncomfortable. Who wants to eat better or get into shape when they know the pain they will face? Because the pain is worth it. Embrace your fear of failure to progress. You got this!
