Technology is only a tool for communication, but humans need non-verbal feedback that is not available through a screen. Even on video chat this is not as efficient as in person. Not only that but humans have a strong need for physical touch which can never be accomplished through a screen. I agree with you, the times I have felt the most alone were the times when I relied on technology for connection rather than actually going out and connecting with people!
