“Which ship?” Cockpit Officer Andofzara asked as he gazed out across the water.
“The Silverton first….” Errisl replied.
“Yes, the Silverton first, it will have only a handful of soldiers on it. Then we’ll free your crew.”
Errisl nodded silently and took a deep breath before spitting on the ground.

[On the Silverton…below deck…]
Seamen Ewsflash and Elshstacker stared out through the narrow window of the bunkroom door. Outside, two French legionnaires stood guard.
“There cannot be more than six on the whole ship…” Ewsflash whispered.
“Aye, but six with muskets an' here we are locked-up like birds in a cage!” Elshstacker replied.
“There must be somethin' we can do?!”
“I’m open to any ideas?”
Ewsflash thought hard but nothing came to him. Suddenly he heard the heavy steps of more soldiers coming down the corridors. As he peered through the small opening he saw three legionnaires pulling a cart stacked high with heavy silver bullion.
“Bloody hell! They’re stealin' our silvers!” Ewsflash said in dismay.
“What?! Let me see!” Elshstacker replied quickly as he squeezed in to get a peek, “Cat’s tails mate! They are stealing our silvers!”
[On the south shore of Great Lake Ontario…]
Cockpit Officer Andofzara shoved the heavily ladened longboat offshore with one leg in the water before climbing in as the last rays of sun filtered through the forests far to the west.
With six strong men at the oars and Lieutenant Errislravenhill on the rudder the longboat cut fresh water quickly in a straight course north. Three quarters of a mile ahead, the forlorn silhouette of the Silverton sat motionless at anchor. Only one lantern in the whole ship could be seen.
“Make for the bow…” Black Bart said in a low voice, “There won’t be anyone up there. Then we’ll board her from the portside, up the anchor chain.”
“Aye, a good approach…” Errisl agreed, “No muskets men, we needs to take 'em by stealth!”
“I’ll gladly wet my blade in th' ribs of these French bastards!” Andofzara replied as he pulled hard on his oar.
Errisl smiled briefly, but it quickly faded as she caught sight of the sole, red-coated legionnaire standing against the starboard rail...
“Head’s-up muckers! There’s a Frank at th' rear starboard rail. Keep your oars quiet!”
