Buying Starbucks and McDonald's With Bitcoin

McDonald's is finally accepting bitcoin as a form of payment in El Salvador after they were the first to make the move to establish bitcoin as a legal tender in the region. Now people have the option to pay for goods at places like McDonald's, Starbucks, and other establishments, using bitcoin.

Right now they are only accepting bitcoin as a form of payment in El Salvador but if the project proves to be successful for then then perhaps we might see them start to accept this payment method in other regions as well.

We have already seen people use bitcoin in other parts of the world to pay for food and other goods over the years but this is on another level now, with some of the most well known brands around the world welcoming this form of payment in the region.

Now, El Salvador also has a growing number of bitcoin atms in the region too, coming in top 3 position in the world as far as prevalence of bitcoin atm machines goes.

While a number of people have been quick to embrace the changes there are still many who are confused about what bitcoin is and there are those who don't trust bitcoin either.

El Salvador did reportedly see some bitcoin protests after people were upset about it becoming legal tender in the region.

Polls have indicated that the majority of people in the region don't want bitcoin but they've also shown that people largely don't understand cryptocurrency still and this could be playing into that decision to avoid it. Being able to pay for goods at places like Starbucks and McDonald's is likely to attract some to consider the possibility of what it might provide in value for them, taking that chance to familiarize themselves with this new technology and method of paying for goods or services.

There are still many though who might not be willing to accept their salaries in bitcoin just yet because of the concern over fluctuation in price. But this doesn't mean that some haven't been open to making that transition along the way, there are already a growing number of people around the world today who earn bitcoin salaries or other cryptocurrencies for their work.

For those who have already paid for coffee or lunch with bitcoin in the area they've helped to demonstrate just how quick and easy it can be.
