Dubai is preparing for the robot taxi era

Cruise Company will test robot taxis in Dubai starting in 2023. After tests, 4 000 cars will be delivered to Dubai.

Dubai will be the first big city which will automate the public transport. According to the contract with Cruise, until 2030 the city will have 4 000 robot taxis, if everything works well in the tests.

The Origin models were developed specifically for ride-sharing, they drive autonomous and don't have a steering wheel or pedals.

The Origin model are already tested in San Francisco, where Cruise hopes will obtain a transporting license earlier than 2023. According to Cruise, the Origin model will start production in 2022.

It is important to mention that, along the Cruise contract, Dubai wants 25% of traffic to be autonomous by 2030. The german press notes that in Dubai there is being tested an aerial taxi, Volocopter.
