Loneliness, Like Age, Is A State of Mind (LOH Community Contest #123)

It's taken me a long time to get to a place where I feel comfortable in my own skin. These days, I'm alone, but I'm not lonely. I choose to be this way because I understand that everyone has different experiences, and for me, being alone feels more authentic.

Growing up, I thought my childhood was pretty normal. My parents stayed together despite my dad's alcoholism, and I lived with them and other family members until I was about ten and a half. Looking back, I realize that my family could only teach me what they had learned from their own experiences. As we get older, we start learning how to limit ourselves and our interactions with others, which can be a problem when we become adults. We become afraid to be ourselves and end up molding ourselves to fit in with the people around us.

This can be detrimental to our ability to connect with ourselves, let alone with others in a way that allows us to share knowledge without fear of judgment. In today's world, it's more important than ever to connect with ourselves first before seeking meaningful connections with others. This is a philosophy that Socrates and Plato would likely have agreed with.

Socrates believed that self-knowledge was the key to a meaningful and fulfilling life, and Plato emphasized the importance of self-reflection and self-awareness. Both philosophers believed that we must examine our own beliefs and values to understand ourselves and our place in the world.

So, while it's important to seek out human connection, it's equally important to connect with ourselves first. This means being true to ourselves and our own values and not just conforming to the expectations of others. By cultivating a deep sense of self-awareness and self-knowledge, we can build stronger, more authentic connections with others that are grounded in mutual understanding and respect.

This is my response to the question:
Why are there so many people who are lonely? Why is it so hard for people to make real connections when almost everyone wants to make real connections?

I leave you with two thoughts;
Live and Let Live and from @shadowspub QTIP: Quite taking it personal.

I had intended on rewriting this article because I un-intentionally got some unwanted attention. I am being accused of using ai to write. I used it to edit and anyone who has edited with ai knows that the original text is almost completely changed.

I went with what came out because it was close to the point I was making. I think the situation that happened also helps to re-itetate my point that well meaning people can cause you to lose yourself.

I was really bothered by this to the point I went to seek some feel good videos and found one I believe fits the situation perfectly.

As I stated in the above it is all about YOU and how you think.

And now I'm moving on. Any negativity will be muted.
