He is not a Yokai, but more accurately a mountain-god.
It is not for me to explain in words the clear distinction between Yokai and mountain-god, as this is an idea that includes the cultural background of Japan.
However, in manga, the impact of a scene is more important than logic or formal explanation.
I enjoyed drawing him without worrying about the details.
