Awesome. Didn't know that. The trick is to connect solar power to generators, batteries, in order to save up a collection. And instead of just big panels on the outside, you can buy small solar units for as little as like as $50 or so and they can take in energy from inside the house.
Like as little as $50 or so or more and have the smaller solar units all over the place and have them charge up rechargeable batteries, generators, etc.
The trick would be to have as many different types of power sources, solar, water-generated, moon-powered, gravity powered, water-fall-powered, turning water into energy power, battery-generated, generator-generated, wind, gas, potato-generated, etc, etc, etc, as many ways to get and save up power as possible, the more the better, and have them just in case as backup options as you never know.

Hello Pat. Good idea to try different websites and I do blog on Hive. I do post things on different websites. Now, sadly, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc, are censoring people. YouTube terminated some of my channels which had thousands of my videos including videos with Blake Webb. Google deleted those videos and I cannot get them back. So, Alphabet is a monster. YouTube bans so many people who talk about freedom. If you talk too much about nationalism, patriotism, independence, God, etc, then they deactivate and erase your accounts. It has been happening to thousands of people on many different websites, etc. The good news is that people are not going to shut up. So, we go to places like banned dot video which Facebook does not want you to visit. So, please obey Facebook and forget that I even mentioned that website.

Get Off the Grid
Rick, the rechargeable AA batteries I have say at least 1,000 cycles. So, not forever. Therefore, I would try not to use them if they're too expensive and just have them as just in case. It's more a backup plan as opposed to simply trying to just get off the grid. There are people who do try to get off the grid as much as possible. I would try to have that as a plan B if at all possible and as much as possible since it can be more expensive/etc like you said.
