My Introduction on Hive

Hey Everyone!

The JOY of introducing myself, so here goes, “I’m Nine and I live in Canada. I now exist on Hive!”

There it is. You want to know more, or is that enough of me?

That’s barely a sketch of an introduction, so here is a splash of more colours added to the self-portrait:

I became interested in Hive when @ayagabriel shared a link to his art on PeakD and gave me a link to #palnet, where I’ve met so many wonderful people. I was inspired to join Hive because of the community itself and the platform. Many thanks and a shout out to @hiveqa for assisting me getting set up on Hive and supporting me, also to @ailindigo and @tripode for ongoing encouragement and support!

Exploration into anything providing me with an opportunity to be creative and learn has been a major focus in my life from my earliest memories.

My mother told me this story from when I was two years old. She had left her quilting project briefly and when she returned, she saw that I was slowly, carefully sewing stitches on the quilt she was making. She was afraid I’d hurt myself with the sewing needle and quietly watched me. It was years later, as an adult that I managed to accomplish an injury, partially skewering my finger with a sewing machine needle! 😆

There are many areas I've delved into creatively, from the simplest of crafts to the most challenging form of art I’ve ever done, miniature carving in wood, antler, horn, ivories, and stone.

Below is a miniature sculpture I carved in mammoth ivory of a decaying oak leaf. The size is slightly smaller than an actual oak leaf. The colours present are naturally occurring in the ivory material. It will move with the slightest breeze, in the same way an actual leaf moves with the wind.

Another focus that has developed is macro photography. In particular, I like to use the camera to create the experience of a painterly image.

Creating is an intuitive process of exploration for myself in which listening is crucial in order to fully realize the first spark of an idea. Attentiveness to the natural tendencies of the chosen medium is essential in order to accomplish a flowing dialogue between myself, the tool(s) utilized, and the selected medium.

The interconnected and interdependence of all aspects of life and the environment in which they exist, impact everyone and everything in varying degrees. The consequences of disconnection, separation, and isolation from each other and/or the natural environment are imbalances and extremes that affect physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health in a multitude of ways.

💧 In much the way a drop of water falling on a still pool causes ripples throughout, all life is impacted by all that surrounds it. 💧

My goal is to explore aspects of these imbalances and extremes through an intuitive connection between myself, tool(s), and the medium. In the process of which, my learning and growth occur. What I learn and the growth that occurs as a result is what I intend to bring to the Hive community. In that process, my intention is to inspire others.
