Let Me Introduce Myself to the Hive Community

Hello to everyone here on Hive! This has to be one of the most unique online communities I've seen in a while. Combining crypto with the ability for anyone to create and share content is fascinating. That is why I would love to introduce myself here and explain a little bit about myself. I've also already posted in the Axie Buzz Hive Community but I figure I need to backtrack and post a proper introduction.

About Me

I go by the name of John. I grew up in and currently live in Wisconsin, USA. I just graduated from college last December and I've been working on my dream career for the last few months. I enjoy living out in rural areas. In fact, I really can't stand living in compact urban areas. I need my open space and fresh air. In my spare time, I like to adventure and hang out with friends. Can you believe that the above picture is from the US Midwest? When I can't be outside I still enjoy being inside and playing video games.

The Job

My education is in computer programming but ultimately I found a job that is much more diversified in Information Technology. I can be proficient in servers, networking, security, as well as programming. Following news and communication with other I.T. professionals will always be important to my job. I'd be interested in joining some I.T. Hive Communities if anyone has any suggestions.

The Farm

While I was growing up, my family ran a small beef farm. Since then, we've gone away from raising beef, but have continued to grow crops. However, what I really enjoy are the other small animals we continue to raise. This includes chickens, goats, and bees (coming up later). I've been honest though, the goats are basically just pets at this point. We also take in animals that people surrender if they can't properly provide for them. For example, Gypsy, the brown goat pictured above was one such surrender. Her fur coat was kind of thin at the time of the picture due to her owner not providing the proper nutrients for her. She is doing so much better now. She looks healthier and has so much more energy now.

The Buzzing Bees

More recently , I've started raising honey bees on the farm. When I was a child I was afraid of bees but since then I've become fascinated with the little creatures. I started with one hive last year, and have now worked up to 3 hives this year at the time of writing. We're getting very close to do our first honey harvest. I'm not even sure how much we will get but it's an exciting time coming up.

I apologize for the slightly out-of-focus camera, but look at how cute they are! They definitely are very protective of their sweet valuable honey. I'm still very new to beekeeping and I would also love to be more active in honey bee communities here on Hive. I've already followed The Pollen Flow but if anyone knows of any other good communities I'll be happy to take suggestions.

Axie Infinity

As I stated at the beginning of this post I also said I enjoy playing video games. Currently, I have been big into playing Axie Infinity, a revolutionary NFT (Non-Fungible Token) game. I don't want to get too in-depth here, but simply the game always to collect digital creatures called Axies and then battle them in PVE and PVP matches. You can earn SLP, a crypto token, which can be sold for real money or used to breed more Axies. Below is my original team in Axie Infinity. Since my start, I've already bought other Axies to form a more competitive team but I'm still connected to the original Axies that gave me my start.

The axie communities are actually where I originally heard about Hive. I've already been active in reading articles in the Axie Buzz. Credit to @axiebuzz for leading such a fun little community on Hive. Whether you are a beginner like me or experienced, Axie Buzz already has a lot of good content.

In Conclusion

Firstly, I want to thank everyone I've already interacted with for being so welcoming to Hive. Thank you to @lovesniper for providing some resources for beginners and encouraging me to write this introduction. If anyone has any other communities you think I should check out, please let me know. I'm looking forward to continuing to interact on Hive.
