The Toros Coleados is the national equestrian sport of Venezuela, which is practiced in the eastern plains of Colombia. This sport consists of knocking down a bull by grabbing it by the tail while it runs through a sand track enclosed in fences, this track is known as Manga de Coleo and everything takes place in turns lasting 5 minutes. During colonial times in Venezuela and the eastern plains of Colombia, the herding of cattle required hard work in which the cattle had to be pulled down, and when conventional methods failed, the "llaneros" followed the cattle mounted on their horses, taking the cattle by the tail and pulling them down. Thus originated the traditional sport of Coleo de Toros in Venezuela. Although nowadays it is practiced in other countries, mainly in Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil, with variations of styles and rules. In Venezuela there are local and national tournaments of Coleo de Toros, it is a tradition of this equestrian sport that each tournament has a Madrina, a girl chosen from several candidates to represent the fairs in which these tournaments are held. Today I bring for you these photos that I have made to [**Joverlinys**](https://www.instagram.com/joverlinys/), she is the Godmother of the Toros Coleados of Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela and she is also a National Jury for these tournaments. She is a lover of Venezuelan traditions that celebrates the llanera culture (cattle) of this country. These pictures are part of her passion for coleo that has taken her on a nationwide tour to promote this sport and its cultural significance.
