From a live broadcast in the middle of the Barcelona/Catalonia protests to a tell-all interview with serial entrepreneur Adryenn Ashley, Layah Heilpern has already experienced a lot in her young journalism career.
And now it seems she's found her footing in the blockchain space.
With tens of thousands of followers on Twitter and TikTok, as well as key interviews with crypto movers and shakers, Layah is quickly becoming a trusted source for blockchain information.
Oh, and did I mention, she's keen on getting involved with Hive?
20 questions with Layah Heilpern
1 - How would you describe yourself in one sentence?
Layah - Passionate, powerful, spiritual with a strong belief in taking personal responsibility.
2 - What led you to pursue a career in journalism?
Layah - I have a keen interest in the human story and the human condition. Journalism is the people’s story told on a bigger scale.
3 - To date, what journalistic achievement are you most proud of?
Layah - My first live broadcast was from the middle of the Barcelona/Catalonia protests. There were violent protesters, there were flares going off, and in the middle of hundreds of thousands of people, I managed to keep focused and do a live report to camera from the scene.
4 - When did you first discover the blockchain/crypto world?
Layah - In 2018 I was offered an exciting journalism job in the space, and fell in love from there.
5 - Much of your social media presence focuses on crypto information. What makes you passionate about this space?
Layah - Bitcoin is rooted in ideologies which are close to my heart and reflect the way in which I want to live my life. It is rooted in freedom, individualism and there’s an unspoken agreement for less state intervention.
6 - What advice would you give to aspiring content creators?
Layah - Post the content you created but are too afraid to share.
7 - Of all the interviews you’ve done, what was your favourite?
Layah - I interviewed Adryenn Ashley the founder of http://loly.io. She is looking to improve women’s sex lives using AI and blockchain technology. This woman does not hold back in an interview. She gets into the details, not afraid to speak her truth and it inspired me. I love her work.
8 - Who is one person you’ve yet to interview who is at the top of your list?
Layah - Melania Trump. I’m very into politics. I want to know in 30 years time what it was like for her when she found out she might become FLOTUS… and how the journey went from there. Did she love Trump?
9 - What cryptocurrency are you most bullish on for 2020?
Layah - Bitcoin, Link, Quant, ADA
10 - What is the most underrated blockchain project you’ve come across?
Layah - Chiliz. The only project I have come across with direct real world adoption.
11 - Do you have a hard time explaining blockchain/crypto to your family and friends?
Layah - They don’t get it. When I say I earn in bitcoin instead of fiat, it’s like saying I make magic tokens to them. LOL.
12 - You’ve grown a significant following on TikTok. What do you like most about that platform?
Layah - It’s brand new; therefore, as a creator it’s easier to make a mark on the platform.
13 - Do you currently post content to any blockchain-backed social media platforms? If not, would you ever consider posting content there?
Layah - I’m really interested in Hive, I have set up an account but I'm having a few tech issues. I hope to have it up-and-running very soon.
14 - I’ve read you’re passionate about health and fitness. What does your weekly workout routine look like?
Layah - Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 minutes of cardio in the morning, followed by weights. I do arms, legs, bum and tum! On Saturday mornings I tend to do a power walk around 5k.
15 - Who inspires you?
Layah - My brother.
16 - Where is one place you’ve yet to travel to that is on the top of your list to visit?
Layah - South and Central America!
17 - If they made a movie about your life, what actress would play you in the film?
Layah - I would play me. I am dramatic and eccentric enough to make it work.
18 - What’s your favourite quote?
Layah - I have two:

19 - You get to have dinner with three people, living or dead. Who are you eating with?

20 - What is one thing very few people know about you?
Layah - I’m spiritual, I work as a healer and have a knowing about people, situations and life in general.
