Make Hypocrisy Great Again

In their second attempt, the U.S. Senate passed two resolutions in rebuke for the Administration policies on Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of State responded in a way it’s hard to describe… You have to see it yourself.

The first resolution, prepared by Bernie Sanders and Mike Lee, which says the U.S. needs to get out of helping Saudi Arabia in their war in Yemen, was passed with bipartisan support, and narrow majority of 56-41. It also rebukes the Crowned Prince and the Saudis for their role in the Khashoggi killing.

The second resolution, put forward by the Senator Bob Corker, says that U.S. Senate rejects killing of Jamal Khashoggi, condemns it in the strongest possible terms, and finds the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia responsible regardless of what any other body in the United States says, including the President.

Enter Mike Pompeo. Having in mind fierce competition for the “Clown of the Month” title, here at Steemit, U.S. Secretary of State decided to take a shortcut. He spit in the faces of truth and humanity, and defended Washington’s backing of the Saudi-led coalition's bombing campaign in Yemen saying its continuation is the only way to ‘ensure just peace’ and to ‘alleviate suffering’ in the war-torn country… All of that while his chief is shamelessly pimping an enormous amounts of weapons of mass destruction to the Saudis. Donald Trump's arms deals with Saudi Arabia are expected to total around $350 billion over a decade…

If this “defense” looks sick to you, that is because it is. I still cannot forget Campaign Trump, who shouted that “crooked Hillary” was financed by Saudis, and that he will “reveal 28 pages” censored from the 9/11 report — because of clear Saudi connections. Remember JASTA (Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act) which allowed to 1,500 injured survivors and 850 family members of 9/11 victims filed a class action lawsuit against… oh, look — the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia! What is he trying to do now with this pompous CIA twit as a head of diplomacy? Make hypocrisy great again? Well, he did succeeded. I can hardly remember an example of greater hypocrisy than this one…
