Completed the Earthing process for my home

It is surprising to my own-self of how many new things I am learning while making my home. Buying a ready made home is so easy then making a house. But trust me, nothing is more fulfilling then making it from ground zero, the satisfaction I am getting is immense and it makes me connect deeper and deeper with my place.

The structure of my home is ready, now I am working on the interiors and the exteriors. The Electrician guy told me that it is time to do the Earthing for the home. Honestly I had no clue what's that supposed to be. I never knew about this process. He told me it has to be done to stay protected from electric shocks. In this process he explained to me that all the wires from the distribution board will be connected to the electrode or the earth plate. So if there is any power surge the current will flows through the earth rod to the ground.

If the earthing is not done well then there are chances that we can get electric shocks while using the electricity at home. So I understand that this is the most important and a basic process in any house construction, but yes I must accept that I was not aware of it. I thought the earthing process is done through some switchboards.

The electrician made multiple such small pits in our garden area, then those are filled with charcoal powder. Charcoal helps retain the moisture for a longer duration.

There was lot of salt also added in the pit along with the charcoal powder. The pit was filled up with the charcoal powder, sand and salt and then the wires were connected with the rod, which was very technical and not really in my complete understanding. But yes this was a good learning for me, with all of this I am understanding a lot of science behind all of these things.

I am sure there is still lots to learn for me before my home gets fully ready. Specially the plumbing and electrical works have been very interesting for me as these are things where we never pay attention to what goes in the background. We only look at the outer beauty and appearance of our bathrooms and lightings, but how exactly things happen are way too complicated.
