IF YOU HAVE A STEEM ACCOUNT, YOU DON’T NEED TO GET A NEW HIVE ACCOUNT.
All you need to do is to log into a Hive site, like peakd.com using your existing private keys.
If you already have a Steem account, and you still have your private keys, you can simply use those existing keys to log into peakd.com (there are other sites that use the Hive blockchain, but peakd.com has a great user experience). Your Steem keys are exactly the same as your Hive keys.
When you visit peakd.com, you are presented with a few ways to log in. We recommend you get the Brave/Chrome or Firefox extension for Hive Keychain. We have been using Hive Keychain since the beginning and it’s both super easy and safe. This method is for those who want to use a desktop computer.

Q: What happened to all my posts that were on Steemit?
A: All your posts were automatically ported over to the Hive blockchain. This is because of the nature of open source projects. When Hive forked due to the hostile takeover by Justin Sun, everything was copied to a new blockchain, Hive. Your posts are all visible on Hive and exactly as you posted them when you wrote them on Steemit. Take a look at your account on peakd.com: @hivepeople (Just substitute your account name for ‘hivepeople’ to see your own posts).
Q: What happened to my Steem balance?
A: Your Steem balance was copied to your Hive balance. So, if you had 100 Steem on Steemit, you now have 100 Hive on Hive. If you had 100 Steem Power on Steemit, you now have 100 Hive Power on Hive. You basically doubled your coins without doing anything.
Mobile Phones
If you want to use a mobile phone for the Hive blockchain, then your option is to use the Esteem app https://esteem.app/. Don’t get confused by the name of the app or its branding. I was originally created to be used for the Steem blockchain, hence its name “Esteem”, but it has since moved over to Hive.
