Diciembre, además de la navidad y las reuniones familiares también tiene otras festividades y específicamente hoy se celebran dos de estas. Apartándonos un poco del tema de la navidad hoy les voy a hablar un poco sobre estas dos festividades que se celebran en el mes de diciembre pero que no tienen nada que ver con la navidad, ambas se celebran el mismo día pero una en varias partes del mundo mientras que la otra solo en Venezuela. >December, in addition to Christmas and family reunions, also has other festivities and two of these are celebrated specifically today. El 28 de diciembre de cada año se celebra el Día de los Inocentes, día en el cual se suelen gastar bromas a las personas para luego hacerles creer que se lo han creído por inocentes, de allí su nombre. En este día se hacen bromas de todo tipo, desde bromas simples hasta bromas muy pesadas, algunas personas aprovechan la ocasión para difundir noticias falsas y muchas de estas pueden ser sobre la muerte de alguna persona, accidentes, o algún hecho que alarme a la gente, de esta manera las personas creen en la noticia hasta darse cuenta de que todo ha sido una mala broma que les han jugado. >On December 28 of each year, April Fools' Day is celebrated, a day on which people are usually played jokes and then make them believe that they have believed it to be innocent, hence its name. No sólo las personas hacen este tipo de bromas, también se puede ver a los medios de comunicación como periódicos, programas de televisión mostrando noticias falsas o exageradas pero de menos magnitud, ya que hacer una broma pesada por parte de alguno de estos medios les haría daño a su reputación por formar parte de esta celebración que muchos consideran de mal gusto.

El Día de los Inocente involucra muchas risas y carcajadas, momentos de disfrute al jugarle bromas a nuestros amigos o familiares, incluso si somos nosotros mismos quienes caemos en la broma, siempre que estas sean sanas no hay motivo para dejar de hacerlo y festejar este día.

### Día del Mono de Caicara || Caicara Monkey Day

Se trata de una celebración que se lleva a cabo en el Estado Monagas, Venezuela, pero que es festejada por todos los venezolanos. El 28 de diciembre de cada año gran parte de los venezolanos se trasladan a Caicara, donde se realiza el tradicional **Baile del Mono**. Es una representación folclórica y cultural de esta zona con raíces indígenas.

Esta tradición viene de los ancestros Chaima, Paria, y Cariña quienes festejaban de esta manera en agradecimiento a las abundantes cosechas de maíz y algodón mediante un rito en el cual el hombre y la naturaleza eran uno sólo, pintándose la cara con onoto o humo negro a fin de demostrar igualdad entre ellos.

Esta celebración consiste básicamente en bailar durante horas sin parar y pintarse unos a otros con pinturas de agua. Los asistentes visten ropa vieja que puedan dañar sin problemas ya que durante este evento las personas se arrojan pintura de diferentes colores unos con otros hasta quedar completamente pintados de pies a cabeza, todo esto mientras bailan el popular baile del mono, el protagonista de esta celebración, en el cual van uno detrás del otro hasta formar una especie de tren de gran longitud.

Ya que se trata del baile del mono en este evento hay un hombre disfrazado de mono y una mayordoma, personajes característicos de esta festividad y son los encargados de dirigir y guiar el baile y animan la celebración, además llevan consigo una correa para azotar a todo aquel que interrumpa la danza. Esta es una celebración muy conocida a nivel nacional y cada 28 de diciembre personas de cada rincón de Venezuela viajan hasta esta pequeña localidad para unirse a esta festividad. Desde muy tempranas horas de la mañana se puede ver el ambiente festivo en el pueblo de Caicara, donde incluso los comercios se suman a festejar esta tradición.

Debido a la pandemia este año no se realizará esta celebración, algo que ha molestado a gran parte de la población que asiste cada año a festejar el baile del mono, pero personalmente pienso que es lo mejor, ya que es preferible perderse un año de este evento que contribuir al contagio y propagación del Covid-19 al asistir a este evento, sabiendo que la mayoría de las personas van con intensiones de disfrutar y no tomarán en cuenta las medidas necesarias para prevenir el contagio.

Estas 2 festividades que se celebran el día de hoy son parte importante de nuestra cultura, tienen una gran historia en el pasado que son parte de nuestro presente en las costumbres y tradiciones que festejamos.
