EXODE at end May: Planet NFTs and more than 2000 attributes per planet

We have been upgrading STEP ONE for several weeks!

We gave access to scanning, we updated our colonization portal and created the planet NFT feature.

Since that day, players have been playtesting content and reporting feedback.

What is coming next to EXODE?
It's time to take a look!

STEP TWO is being set up!

We all want to access the next step in colonization, which is giving orders to your crew members, building what needs to be built, and exploring your planet from ground level!

How long will your colonization game last?
What happens if you fail?
And if you fail your game, because aliens find you for instance, should you start a new planet?
Or stop playing?

You will get more details soon, but some first explanations:

Once the scanning update is released (which should be within the 4 next days or so), STEP TWO will be the next feature to be deployed.

  • You will be able to view the planetary map and pick a landing site there,
  • This will LOCK the landing site for your colonization game.
  • Your game will be saved at that point.
  • You will then be able to play colonization, and if anything dire happens? then you will be able to continue testing, if you would like to, by restarting from this moment.

We believe this allows players to keep a fresh perspective on colonization and to test everything necessary, with enough freedom, and lack of pressure. Anything bad happens? well, you can try further.

However this release is taking a bit more time than planned.
We have a lot of content to address, and first we have to do this:


SCANNING is getting an update!

During May we had some time to test our scanning scene and planetary content.

We had less problems on backend than anticipated, meaning our colonization API used this testing time very effectively to fix what needed fixing and to implement processes (how to update crew activity, how to complete tasks on server, etc). And it's good because all of that will be used again in Step Two.

However, we had more problems on front UI as well; we underestimated the amount of attributes and content which could need UI to be upgraded further.

As you will check below, we have more than 2000 unique values on a planet. We never expected to have to reveal all of them during scanning. But we still have to be "more pro" in how we handle this volume and moreover, about how we handle the player experience with such an immense content.

We now understand better what are the proper increments of this regarding gameplay and UI, while we must also add crew roles, balance and of course, fixes to the most critical issues.

So far you did not see all of it, and that's because we give access to it step by step.

Right now we have to upgrade the experience a lot on front and UI ; we can't do maintenance on several game scenes at once, scanning needs to be proper first. And a big part of it is what is planned in this update, ready in just a few days!


Your planet NFT reveals more and more every day!

PRIMSCAN data is about regions and landing sites.

Planetary content, received a huge update lately, updating generators and giving some insight on your planet wildlife, vegetation, ore and minerals.

While we just gave "a sneak peek" of it, players could still see a few things and compare.

Other scans (there a CFR) can reveal more data about wildlife, vegetation, ore and minerals.

How to get your planet?

2000 unique attributes?!


More than two thousand rolls: that's the average we have.

This means that if you are not happy with some value, well there still may be some other attribute or chemical you will be very happy about.

This also means no planet will ever be the same. And it's not about rolling something useless or casual.

Temperature? it's one roll.
Danger Level? it's just one roll.
Number of regions? one roll again.

Also, we have a few wildlife, ore, vegetation, about 4 of each on average.
So, how did we end up with so many unique attributes?

Fasten your seat belt ; because in our next post, we'll take one planet as example and will see everything we can about it!


Blockchain: when is broadcast time?


We are very eager to publish this ownership to blockchain. However we first want to make sure we publish the version of it which has benefited from all fixes and will be locked to you permanently.

At the end of the testing period:

  • We will make a full broadcast of everything you discovered on your planet!.
  • We won't broadcast what hasn't been found ingame, by scanning or exploring. So you'll have to test it well once scanning is updated!
  • We will broadcast all your data, player by player and package by package.
